FAQs

What is a group break?

A group break takes place when a group of people split the cost of opening boxes or cases of cards and divide up the contents be a predetermined method.

Why do a group break?

It's significantly cheaper to get in a group break for a product rather than buying many boxes. It spreads out the risk (and reward) of opening boxes. Many cases of products have "case hits" which guarantee a special game used or autographed card.

How do I join one of your breaks?

Click on one of the featured breaks on the home page or in the breaks section. All relevant information will be posted in the page for the break.

What types of group breaks are there?

There are several different methods out there. For the purposes of this website we will currently be looking at randomized team and division breaks. A randomized team break will have a team randomly assigned to each slot. A randomized division break will have a random division from that sport's professional league assigned to a slot, with the slot receieving all teams in that division.

We have plans to include more break types in the future as the site grows and welcome any suggestions.

How are spots randomized?

Spots are randomized live during the break video on Random.org. The randomize button will be clicked five times before landing on the final order. Randomization will never be prerecorded.

What if I don't get a hit?

We currently plan on providing those who don't receieve a hit (a game used or autographed card) some card of value. This could mean a game used card, a Project 2020 card, or some low numbered cards. This won't be provided if you don't get a "hit" but do get a card of high value (relative to the cost of the break) such as a 1/1 card or extremely valuable rookie card.

When does the break take place and how do I watch it?

The break time will be posted in the product page as well as on the website's calendar. The video will be streamed live on YouTube and the recording will be posted on our YouTube channel.

Who gets a card with multiple players from different teams in a team break?

If there is a team that creates a majority (51% or higher) then the card will go to the slot that has that majority. For example, let's say a card has Mike Trout (Angels), Shohei Ohtani (Angels), and Ronald Acuna (Braves). The card would go to the owner of the Angels slot.

The winner of the card will be randomized if there is no majority. We will use Random.org live during the break and the random button will be pressed five times until a winner is selected.

What about cards without a team or logo on them?

Active players will go to the team they currently play on. Retired players will go to the team they played the most games for.

How will card condition be preserved?

All hits and any cards currently worth more than $5-$10 will be put in a penny sleeve and a topholder for protection.

Please note that we cannot guarantee a card will be in excellent condition. Many cards can and typically do have defects from the printing process. We will do our best to keep the card in the condition that it came in from the box.

When are cards shipped out?

Please allow 2 business days for the cards to be shipped out. We will try to have them out faster, but it does take time to sort and pack them.

Cards with an estimated value greater than $250 will be insured.
